PEARL HARBOR 80TH – DAY 6
December 7th, 2021
“December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked… no matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people, in their righteous might, will win through to absolute victory.”
DAY 6
December 7th, 2021
On this the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor the words of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in his address to congress on December 8, 1941 explains it best:
“Yesterday, December 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked… no matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people, in their righteous might, will win through to absolute victory.”
Nothing is certain, but Pearl Harbor plays an important part in the collective American soul and spirit. It serves to never let Americans and the world forget about the terrible events of December 7, 1941 and the heroic actions that followed that changed the course of American and world history.
This morning we brought our 63 veterans to the 80th commemoration to be recognized, honored and celebrated for their service and sacrifice.
We can never thank them enough for stepping up when their country needed them most.
What a showing from Honolulu tonight!
The Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade begins at Fort DeRussey and proceeds down Kalakaua Avenue.
It felt like the entire city lined the streets to celebrate these heroes… what a night!
